EPCOT's The Seas Welcomes Baby Manatee Soleil: A Heartwarming Story of Care and Conservation
Following the enchanting debut of seadragons in the Nursery, EPCOT's The Seas with Nemo & Friends welcomes another adorable arrival: a baby manatee named Soleil. This heartwarming story showcases Disney's commitment to animal care and conservation.
Soleil, a young female manatee, was brought to The Seas in need of short-term care. She joins her new companions, Tanimura and Cider, in the aquarium, where she receives world-class treatment. Dr. Mark Penning, a trusted source for Disney's animal kingdom updates, shared the exciting news on Instagram.
The aquarium's role has evolved into a short-term care facility, collaborating with the Manatee Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Release Partnership and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Their mission is to rehabilitate injured or orphaned manatees, with the ultimate goal of releasing them back into the wild. This initiative is part of Disney's ongoing collaboration with Mr. P Manatee and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
Tanimura, another orphan who arrived in June 2025, and Mermaid, who was released in October 2025 after a seven-month stay, are previous residents of The Seas. These efforts demonstrate Disney's dedication to the well-being and conservation of manatees.
Guests can witness Soleil's playful antics alongside Tanimura and Cider at the SeaBase Aquarium. Located on the first or second level, visitors can observe the manatees swimming and munching on Romaine lettuce. EPCOT enthusiasts can share their love for these gentle creatures on social media.
The arrival of Soleil sparks curiosity and highlights the importance of animal care and conservation. As EPCOT visitors, we can appreciate the dedication of Disney and the collaborative efforts to protect and nurture these magnificent creatures.
